Playgrounds have the best dirt

Luke was playing with a little girl at the playground and I went over to check on him.

“Are you guys having fun?” I asked.

“Yeah, Mom,” Luke said.

I looked over at his new friend, whose pretty face was framed by long, blond waves.

“Hello, what’s your name?”  I asked.

“My mom says my dad’s a liar,” she said matter-of-factly.

It was tempting to dig for more info but instead I turned to sit on a nearby bench without asking anymore questions.  I hope one day another mom will return the favor when my kids say something lessthanperfect about me (if they haven’t already).
