Happy Weekend

My kitchen is filled with the aroma of pork shoulder rubbed with brown sugar, paprika and mustard simmering in the slow-cooker.  Here’s the recipe I used.  Later this afternoon my family is coming over for dinner – pulled pork sandwiches on homemade rolls, roasted potatoes and cole slaw.  I haven’t made pulled pork in a while and I suddenly had the urge for it.

These babies are heading into the oven once they’re done resting.

What are you up to this weekend?  If you live somewhere that’s warm and sunny this time of year, I hope you’re outside making of the most of the beautiful weather.  We’re officially into winter in the northeast and I’m starting to get cabin fever.

Here’s a song I can’t get enough of (even though it’s not the best sound quality.)  Enjoy!

  1. One of our family favorites, pulled pork is. We’re whipping up a batch of espresso and dark chocolate chip ice cream today with my new Kenwood multi-purpose wonder-machine that I got for Christmas.
We do, in fact, now live somewhere warm-ish and sunny these days. Some shots from a day out on Friday: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.699499086757396.1073741851.424219554285352&type=1
    Enjoy the family, Mama!
