I (still) do

I’m a romantic.  A sucker for nonsense driven purely by the heart.  Give me a movie where an estranged couple somehow reunites and finds that they never lost their passion for each other, throw in a bowl of popcorn, and I’m as happy as could be.  You know, stuff like that.  I sometimes listen to 80s love songs while I’m driving (remember this one?) and imagine I’m the one singing. (I don’t sing aloud because I don’t want to shatter other people’s’ windshields.  Considerate of me, right?)  You’d probably assume, then, that I believe in soulmates.

I don’t.

Friends fan may remember the episode when Chandler worries that Monica has found her soulmate. (I have a point, stay with me even if you’ve never watched an episode.)  Watch the clip at the 2:50 minutes marker and you’ll see how Monica explains relationships perfectly.

“I don’t think you and I were destined to end up together,” she says.   “I think we fell in love and we work hard at our relationship.  Some days we work really hard.”

What about you?  Do you believe in soulmates?

By the way, just a quick note to my husband on our 9th wedding anniversary…

Life throws curveballs, life can be stressful and life can also bestow you with joy that you didn’t have the sense to imagine beforehand.  If you wear a helmet, take lots of deep breaths and open your heart to the unknown, you may just enjoy the ride.

Happy Anniversary, my husband.  Soulmate or not, I’m enjoying the ride.
